Posted 11:00PM on Monday 31st December 2018 ( 6 years ago )

Cleanup is completed at Texaco Food Mart on Parkhill Drive after a gasoline leak over the weekend.

Gainesville Fire Division Keith Smith said roughly 500 gallons had leaked out of storage tanks once the leak was discovered Sunday.

"The gasoline had leaked into the ground and was coming above ground as it went down the hill into the parking lot of Glenn Cove Apartments, which is behind this business," Smith said in a Monday afternoon interview.

Smith said a cleanup company was called in and vacuumed 3,500 gallons of remaining fuel from the tanks.

He said absorbent pads and sand have been put on the parking lots of Texaco and the adjoining apartment complex.
