Boys basketball: Dawson, Banks, Lumpkin fall in tourney title games; Lakeview, West Hall win Lanierland consolation games

HOMER – Rockdale outpaced Banks County 77-60 to win the Banks County Christmas Tournament Saturday night.

Rockdale took a 17-10 at the end of the first quarter an never looked back despite a push by the Leopards in the final three quarters.

Carl Cleveland turned in another double-double performance, scoring 32 points and grabbing 14 boards. 

Piece Martin had 8 points, Clay Gosnell and Garrett Presley tossed in 7 points each and Dakota Orr had 

6.

Banks County (8-6, 3-0) will travel to Elbert County in a Region 8-2A battle. Game time is 8:30 p.m.

 

LAKEVIEW 74
NORTH HALL 44

Blake McIntyre scored 20 points and Adam Cottrell had 13 points to lead Lakeview past North Hall in the Lanierland third-place consolation game Saturday at West Hall High School.

The Lions nailed 12 3-pointers in the win.

Holden Cooper netted 13 points and Arturo Varela chipped in 10.

 

Lakeview (9-5) will host George Walton Jan. 5. Game time is 1:30 p.m. 

 

METROLINA, NC 69
DAWSON COUNTY 67

Dawson County fell to Metrolina, NC in the Deep South Classic title game Saturday night at Brookwood High School in Snellville.

Luke Chism hit for 15 points and pulled 14 rebounds in the loss. Campbell Reed scored 14 points, Jasper Gibson had 13, Eli Burruss had 12 and Tate Adkins added 8.

Chism and Gibson were named to the Deep South All-tournament team.

Dawson County (12-3, 2-1) will travel Pickens County Jan. 3. Game time is 7:30 p.m.

 

WALHALLA, SC 80
LUMPKIN COUNTY 24

The Indians struggled to find offense in a loss to Walhalla, SC Saturday night in the Battle of the States championship game at Towns County High in Hiawassee.

Jacob Cumbie led Lumpkin with 8 points, Jake Granger scored 6 points, Brian Cunane had 3 points, Patrick Jackson, Matt Seabolt and Gus Faulkner hit for 2 each, and Dylan Head and Peyton Polk added 1 each.

Lumpkin (5-10, 1-4) will host North Hall Jan. 4. Game time is 7:30 p.m.

 

WEST HALL 62
FLOWERY BRANCH 57

Sawyer Passmore scored 22 points to lead West Hall past Flowery Branch in the Lanierland consolation game Saturday at West Hall High School. 

Passmore was 8-for-9 from the foul line the fourth quarter to help the Spartans seal the win and secure a No. 7 seed in next year's Lanierland tournament. 

West Hall (2-9, 1-2) will host Marist Jan. 4. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
