The new year marks the 50th Anniversary of Alpine Helen and the Helen Arts & Heritage Center plans a series of five meetings during the year on the transformation of the mountain town to a tourist mecca.
The organization promises that those who attend will hear about the transformation from those who experienced it first-hand.
The Coffee & Conversation events will be led by longtime Helen resident, business owner, artist, and Heritage Center co-founder, Paula Ash.
For several months, others in the town have been planning a series of events to mark the occasion.
