The Flowery Branch City Council will consider scheduling a special city council election when it meets Thursday night.

First reading on an ordinance calling for the election is one of the items on the agenda for the meeting.

The need for the election arose a couple of weeks ago when Councilwoman Mary Jones announced that she was resigning her seat on the council.

Also on Thursday's agenda are first readings on ordinances setting the qualifying fees for this year's city council General Election and amending alcoholic beverage serving times on Sundays.
