MONTICELLO — Banks County fought back from a first-half deficit to beat Monticello 58-53 Tuesday in Region 8-2A action.
The Leopards (6-4, 3-0 Region 8-2A) led 14-13 after the first quarter but fell behind 26-20 at halftime after managing just 6 points in the second quarter. They made up for it with a big third quarter outscoring the Purple Hurricanes 23-11 to grab a 43-37 lead and then hang on in the fourth.
Pierce Martin paced Banks County with 21 points, 3 rebounds, and 4 steals. Carl Cleveland added 18 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists, Dakota Orr had 7 points and 11 boards, Wes Ledford added 3 points and 11 rebounds, and Clay Gosnell had 5 points and 6 rebounds for the Leopards.
Banks County will have a busy weekend traveling to Buford on Friday and Commerce on Saturday.

LAKEVIEW ACADEMY 73
Despite five players in double-figure scoring, Lakeview Academy could not get past Rabun Gap Tuesday night.
Adam Cottrell scored 18 points to go with 5 rebounds, KJ Millwood had 11 points and 7 rebounds, and Conley Millwood 11 points for the Lions (6-4). Arturo Varela chipped in 11 points and Blake McIntyre added 10 points and 6 assists for Lakeview.
The Lions next will play host to the Lakeview Invitational on Friday and will take on Flowery Branch at 4:30 p.m. Riverside Military will play Denmark at 3 p.m.

The Tigers never trailed in a blow-out Region 7-3A win over Lumpkin County Tuesday night in Dawsonville.
Luke Chism turned in a double-double performance, scoring a game-high 29 points and grabbing 12 boards. He also dished out 4 assists, 3 steals, and 2 blocks.
Dawson County outscored the Indians 48-27 in the first half and 40-16 in the final two quarters.
Jasper Gibson poured in 17 points, 7 assists, 4 rebounds, and 4 steals. Eli Burruss chipped in 10 points.
The Tigers (8-2, 3-1) will host Pickens County Friday. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
Lumpkin (3-10, 1-4) will play Hayesville, NC in the Battle of the States tournament in Hiawassee Dec. 27. Game time is 2:30 p.m.

Chestatee was in the zone behind the arc Tuesday night in a Region 7-4A win over White County.
The War Eagles hit for 12 3-pointers in the win.
Cameron Gwyn made six 3-pointers, including a big one late in the game to hold off White County in the final period. He ended the night with a team-high 26 points.
Brenton Nicholson nailed three 3-point baskets. He finished with 15 points and was 6-for-6 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter.
Will Cantrell tossed in 14 points, 9 of those behind the arc.
Jonah Bull had a double-double night with 10 points and 13 assists.
The War Eagles found themselves down 35-32 at the intermission but found a rhythm in the third quarter. Chestatee outscored the Warriors 41-34 in the second half to seal the win.
Austin Harris scored 27 points to lead White County. Daniel Rowland had 11 points.
Chestatee (10-3, 3-2) will host Cherokee Bluff Thursday in the play-in game for the Lanierland tournament. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
White County (3-9, 0-4) will host Cartersville on Jan. 2 in the White County Classic. Game time is 5 p.m.
