The construction zone in the Settingdown Road/Martin Road area got so bad that Forsyth County officials decided to close the intersection for now.
A facebook post from the Forsyth County Government social media Monday evening says the reason points to the, "...current condition of the roadway, as well as vehicles having difficulty negotiating through the construction zone".
The construction will turn the Coal Mountain intersection from a 4-way stop into a roundabout and traffic was diverted to a temporary gravel surface for the duration of the project that was approved in 2017.
Officials did not indicate when the intersection will reopen.
