GA Gives Day receives millions of dollars on #GivingTuesday

Posted 6:00PM on Wednesday 5th December 2018 ( 5 years ago )

In it's 7th year, GA Gives Day reports a 15% increase in individual giving over last year.

Two of the fastest growing giving movements of the past decade (#GivingTuesday: the Tuesday after cyber Monday and GA Gives: also the Tuesday after Thanksgiving) fused to become a revenue-generating success. The Georgia Center for Nonprofits hosts the 24-hour giving marathon benefitting the state's non-profit sector.

CEO of the Georgia Center for Nonprofits Karen Beavor said, "On GA Gives Day, we raised a grand total of $7.8 million in donations to Georgia non-profits. That's an increase, a fantastic increase, of 15% from the year prior, 2017."

She said that total included gifts from multiple donation platforms including gagivesday.org.

Beavor thanked everyone who donated and said, "It's an amazing result. It shows how generous Georgia really is and we're so pleased that everyone stepped up on this day."

Since it's inception in 2011, over $150,000 individual gifts have raised more than $28 million dollars for Georgia's annual day of giving.
