Gwinnett County commissioners have given the green light to a 64-acre development near the Mall of Georgia in Buford that will bring a mixture of housing, retail and even a golf driving range to the area.
The Exchange at Gwinnett will feature a hotel, six multi-family housing buildings with 500 total units and 337,000 square-feet of retail space along Buford Drive near I-85, according to plans submitted to the county.
One of the retail establishments will be a coffee shop with a drive-thru window. The driving range will feature two, 30-by-50 foot digital displays.
Fuqua Developments is handling the project, and commissioners told the developers to tweak the plans before fully implementing them, according to the Gwinnett Daily Post; Commissioners said to alter the layout to make it more walkable.
The newspaper reports that TopGolf is likely the one behind the driving range, and that renderings for a go-kart business were also shown at Tuesday's commission meeting.
Commissioners approved a different development — one backed by Julio Jones — in October, located at the corner of Mall of Georgia Boulevard and Woodward Crossing Boulevard.
