CLEVELAND — A sweep Friday by local law enforcement officers was made in White County resulting in two arrests and drug seizure.
Mitchell Posey, special agent in charge of the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office, said the various officers searched a total of 31 residences in White County.
Participating agencies included the White County Sheriff’s Office, Cleveland Police Department, Georgia Department of Community Supervision, Georgia Department of Corrections K-9 and ARDEO.
Posey said White County authorities received information from the public on each of the places searched.
Authorities responded to the public’s outcry by going to each of the residences and asking nicely to search for illegal narcotics and stolen items, Posey said.
According to Posey the goal of the operation was to remove all illegal narcotics from the streets and to deter drug dealers from selling illegal narcotics or being in possession of stolen items in White County.
