A personal care home in Braselton was destroyed by fire on Thanksgiving afternoon.

According to fire officials with the West Jackson Fire Department, crews were called to the scene on Davenport Road at 3:17 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 22.

When they arrived at the scene, fire officials learned from the owner of the business that they were in the lower level of the residence when they heard the smoke detectors sounding. When they went to the third floor of the home, they found black smoke and went to work to get the patients out of the home before they called 911.

All nine people who lived at the residence, including six patients, have been displaced as a result of the fire.

Internet information indicates the name of the business is The Olive Branch personal care home.

At this point, fire officials are unsure of the cause of the fire.

In addition to crews from the West Jackson Fire Department, Jackson Trail Fire Rescue, North Jackson Volunteer Fire Department, Jackson County Correctional Institute, Barrow County Fire and Jackson County EMS responded to the scene.
