No charges are expected to be filed in an October shooting incident that left a 29-year-old Murrayville man dead at a home in North Hall County.
Around 9 a.m. Oct. 15, Hall County sheriff's deputies responded to a burglary on Graham Circle, and found James Earl Sanders bleeding from a neck wound in the driveway of the home, said Derreck Booth, Hall County Sheriff's Office spokesman.
The owners of the home — a 73-year-old man and 71-year-old woman — gave statements to deputies, alleging that Sanders tried to break into the home, threatening to kill the woman if she called law enforcement.
Sanders, who doesn't appear to have any connection to the victims, was said to be holding bricks while shouting threats of violence.
The woman's husband, who was working in a shop on the property, was alerted to the situation by a neighbor, at which point the husband grabbed a shotgun and confronted Sanders.
"He told Sanders to put the bricks down, and Sanders complied. The man escorted Sanders back down the driveway toward the road. Sanders turned on the victim's husband, at which point he told Sanders to stop, or he would shoot," said Booth in a statement.
"Sanders continued toward him and the gun went off, hitting Sanders in the neck. Sanders died on Wednesday, October 17, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center."
At this point no charges have been filed, though the case remains under investigation by the sheriff's office.
