COLUMBUS — Jefferson and Banks County both advanced to the finals at the GHSA girls softball tournament. However, neither could come away with their first-ever titles Saturday.
The Lady Dragons fell to fellow Region 8-3A foe Franklin County 9-5 in the Class 3A championship game. Banks County dropped a 9-1 decision to Region 8-2A rival Soial Circle in the Class 2A championship game.
Buford finished fourth in Class 5A after losing to LOganville 10-9 in the semifinal round.
Jefferson began the day with a tough 10-9 loss to Franklin County in the semifinal round but rallied to beat Sonoraville 2-0 in the loser's bracket to advance to the finals.
Banks County opened Saturday in similar fashion with an 8-7 loss to Social Cicle in the semifinal round. The Lady Leopards stayed alive with a 5-2 win over Monticello to advance to the finals.
