Nobody was seriously injured Sunday when a plane crashed at the end of a runway at Briscoe Field in Gwinnett County.
The two people inside the plane, an instructor and student in a Cessna 172, got out, and were evaluated for injuries at the scene, said Justin Wilson, Gwinnett County Fire Department public information officer, in an email to AccessWDUN.
Neither required transport to the hospital.
The plane caught fire after the two escaped. The Cessna was in-bound from Peachtree-DeKalb Airport, and had a "hard" landing, according to Wilson. Radio crews in the air traffic control tower did not receive a distress signal from the aircraft.
The Federal Aviation Administration has taken over the investigation into the exact cause of the crash, which happened at 12:40 p.m.
Briscoe Field is located along Highway 316 in Lawrenceville.
