The Georgia Department of Veterans Services will be hosting an event in Flowery Branch in late October to recognize those who served in the Vietnam War.
The presentation will be held at the University Yacht Club on Yacht Club Road on Saturday, October 27 and will recognize Vietnam veterans from Hall and surrounding counties. Veterans who sign up will be recognized with a state Certificate of Honor and a Commemorative Lapel Pin from the Department of Defense.
In a release, the Department of Veterans Services said that its commissioner, Mike Roby, will present the certificates and lapel pins.
“It is never the wrong time to say thank you to a veteran, and that is especially true for so many Vietnam War veterans who were never properly thanked when they returned home,” Roby said. "We hope to eventually present every Georgia veteran with a Certificate of Honor recognizing their service during the Vietnam War.”
The event will start at 11:00 a.m. and any veterans who want to be recognized in the presentation are asked to email the veterans services central office at [email protected] or fax their information to (404) 656-7006.
The presentation is a joint effort of the Georgia Department of Veterans Service Oakwood Field Service Office and the University Yacht Club.
