*Fall is here, which means the North Georgia Technical College Horticulture Department is hosting its Fall Plant Sale. The semi-annual sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day, Monday, October 15 through Thursday, October 18, at the Greenhouses on the Clarkesville NGTC Campus. Only cash or check will be accepted.

*Hunters and other interested persons are encouraged by state wildlife officials to attend any of three upcoming public meetings regarding the draft Strategic Management Plan for Black Bears in Georgia (copy available at https://georgiawildlife.com/bear-info).  One of the meetings will be held at Blue Ridge EMC in Blue Ridge Oct. 17 at 7:00 p.m.

*The Habersham County Canning Plant has a change in operating hours.  It is now open Tuesdays from 4:00pm-8:00pm and Thursday’s from 7:00-12:00. The last day of operation for the season is Oct. 25.

*Applications are now being accepted for participants in Cornelia's Christmas parade which will be held Dec. 15 as part of the city's Christmas in the Park celebration Dec. 13-15.  For more information, contact Jessie Owensby, Cornelia Development Manager, 706-778-8585 ext. 280, [email protected].

*At its October 4 meeting, the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners recognized retiring Fire Chief/Director of Emergency Management Danny Bowman and thanked him for his years of service with the county. Bowman is retiring October 16 following a 50-year career in fire service.

*Truett McConnell University is now offering a Certificate in Biblical Counseling through its Leonhard Schiemer School of Psychology and Biblical Counseling. Applications are being taken now for spring semester (January 2019).
