Softball: East Hall advances to 7-3A championship round

East Hall won a pair of games Wednesday to advance to the championship round of the Region 7-3A girls softball tournament.

The Lady Vikings, behind a no-hitter from Macy Banks,routed Dawson County 9-0 in five innings. They followed that with a 12-4 win over Lumpkin County.

The wins assure East Hall of a top two seed from 7-3A in the upcoming state tournament and at least one home game in the opening round. The Lady Vikings will await the winner of the North Hall-Lumpkin County elimination game in the championship round at 6 p.m. on Thursday.

In the first game the Lady Vikings plated four runs in the third inning with Banks Calli Hardison driving in all the runs in the frame to grab a lead they would not relinquish. Banks got the win striking out two and walking one.

Maggie Schandera took the loss for Dawson County going four innings and allowing nine runs on 11 hits.

East Hall collected 11 hits on the day with Carley Cox, Jennifer Lopez, Hardison, Banks, and Gracie Smith all tallying multi-hit games.

In the seocnd game, East Hall had to rally from behind after giving up a four-run first inning to the Lay Indians.

The Lady Vikings, answered, however, with a six-run second, highlighted by a grand slam from Abigail Brown.

Banks also got the win against Lumpkin County going five innings allowing four runs on three hits and striking out three.
