UPDATE: The lockdown has been lifted at both schools, according to an email at 1:49 p.m. from Hall County School System spokesman Gordon Higgins.

The Hall County School System has placed both East Hall High School and East Hall Middle School on lockdown after rumors of threats were posted on social media Wednesday.
"No credible threat has been verified at this time," said school district spokesman Gordon Higgins. "However, be assured that the Hall County School District takes all potential threats seriously, and as a precaution, both East Hall High School and East Hall Middle School have been placed on lockdown pending the outcome of Hall County Sheriff’s Office investigation."
The investigation was underway at last report.
Higgins did not say what the nature of the rumors were.
