WRWH Radio in Cleveland celebrates 60 years, addition of FM signal

CLEVELAND — Officials at WRWH Radio in Cleveland say they were overwhelmed with the response to the station’s 60th anniversary celebration last week.

WRWH, known as “Hometown Radio”, has served White County and the surrounding area since 1958, at 1350 AM. Now, the station has expanded its broadcasting to 93.9 FM.

“The station has been in operation serving our area, the Cleveland/White County/North Georgia area, for 60 years,” General Manager Dean Dyer told AccessWDUN. “I’ve been with the station around 49 years as of next month. We’ve really enjoyed working with the community and today they’ve made us really feel great. The community, listeners and the businesspeople in the community have come out and they’ve loved on us, they’ve enjoyed the food and fellowship we’ve had, and we really want to thank them for that.”

Dyer, whose wife Bonnie serves as station manager, said they were not anticipating just how large the crowd at the celebration would be.

“We’re kind of surprised,” Dyer said. “We tried to plan for a large crowd. We were figuring if we have to we’ll eat 100 or so hotdogs, but I don’t think we’ll have any left over.”

WRWH was one of WDUN’s original news partners when AccessNorthGa.com, now AccessWDUN.com, launched. That partnership continues today.

“It has worked great for us,” Dyer said of the news partnership. “We enjoy being a partner with Access and helping with what we can do on our end, and they help us along the way, so it’s a good partnership that we want to keep going for a long time. Hopefully we can keep people informed by working together like that.”
