Flurries possible Tuesday night in far northeast Georgia

While accumulation is expected to be light, the National Weather Service has predicted some snowfall Tuesday night in extreme northeast Georgia.

 

According to a special weather statement from the service, the snow possibility includes Fannin, Gilmer, Union, Towns, Lumpkin and White counties in our area.  The precipitation is possible as a cold front moves across the state Tuesday night.

 

"As the cold air moves in behind the front, any light precipitation development over the higher terrain in northeast Georgia would likely transition to light snow later (Tuesday) evening into the overnight," the statement reads.

 

The snow flurries should end early Wednesday morning with accumulation generally less than a quarter inch.

 

Forecasters also predicted morning temperatures would fall into the upper teens and 20's in the area with wind chill readings between 5 and 15 degrees.
