DAHLONEGA — Ahead of the start of the 2018 season, University of North Georgia junior tennis player Niklas Zielen was named to the Peach Belt Conference's Preseason All-Conference team as announced by the league office Monday afternoon.
Zielen became the first North Georgia tennis player to be named the league's Player of the Year in 2017. A junior from Frankfurt, Germany, he was named an ITA All-American and first-team All-Conference in singles and doubles. Zielen went 14-3 at #1 singles in 2017 for the Nighthawks with a 5-1 mark against nationally-ranked opponents and 7-2 against PBC players. He was also 16-4 at #1 doubles with former partner Alexander Reinauer.
This is Zielen's second preseason All-Conference award as he was named to the team a year ago.
The Nighthawks will open up the season on the road at Belmont Abbey on Saturday, February 3, at 9 a.m.
