Officials with the Oakwood Police Department said Friday they have caught the suspect who stole a Texas man's identity and thousands of dollars from his bank account.

"We received an abundance of tips that led to the suspect being identified as Evan Michael Tubbs of Gainesville," Oakwood Police Sgt. Todd Templeton said in a press statement.

Tubbs was arrested Friday at 4 p.m. at an Oliver Road address, according to Templeton.

Last week, authorities released suspect photos, asking for the public's help in finding the man who was able to withdraw a total of $25,000 from three different bank branches in the Oakwood area - all from the same account.

Templeton said Oakwood PD investigators worked with the Gainesville Police Department to obtain arrest warrants for Tubbs on charges of identity theft and felony theft by taking.

Templeton said investigators do not yet know how Tubbs obtained the victim's bank account information.

Oakwood police say the man in these surveillance photos has been identified as Evan Michael Tubbs. He was arrested Friday afternoon.
