The Flowery Branch City Council held its first meeting of 2018 Thursday, and they did so while first swearing in all members won their elections in November.
Among those were Mayor Mike Miller and Councilmen Joe Anglin and Fred Richards who all won their re-elections bids, and joining them was new Councilwoman Amy Farrah.
Farrah said after the meeting that she had been looking forward to her first day on the job.
"It's exciting, I had been waiting and people would say 'how's it been going', and I'd say I haven't officially started yet, so it was just a good experience to get started and to be a part of things," Farrah said.
Farrah won the seat in November by defeating incumbent Monica Beatty. She said she has several things she wants to focus on over the year.
"Number one, learning about the position and the role of the council, things like that, and all we can do to affect change," Farrah said. "I'm also interested in the continuation of old town and looking to see how we can move the businesses forward."
It was one of what will only be a few meetings for Farrah in the city's current City Hall on Main Street before the city government moves to the new city hall being constructed a block away on Church Street.
