DAWSONVILLE — Dawson County football got its Region 7-AAA campaign off to an impressive start on Friday, as the Tigers jumped out to a three-score lead and made it stick in a 30-7 defeat of North Hall in Dawsonville.
Vaughn Clark and Coey Watson took turns riddling the Trojans defense, as Clark rushed for 159 yards and two touchdowns -- he also caught two passes for 48 yards -- and Watson completed 21 of 26 passes for a score and also rushing for 16 yards and a touchdown.
Dawson receiver Ethan Cameron also proved tough for North Hall to contain, as he caught nine passes for 113 yards. Ryan Glass aso five passes for 37 yards and a score for the Tigers (3-2, 1-0 Region 7-AAA).
The Trojans (1-5, 1-1) rushed for 170 yards behind seven different ball carriers -- led by 56 yards on 11 carries for Peyton Mavity -- while quarterback David Seavey completed 6 of 13 passes for 26 yards and a score in the fourth quarter.
North Hall will play host to Lumpkin County looking to bounce back in region play.
Dawson County, meanwhile, travels to Union County in another key 7-AAA showdown.
