Softball: Caymol no-hitter sends Buford to 8-AAAAA regular season title

FLOWERY BRANCH — Buford and Flowery Banch closed out the regular season in Region 8-AAAAA softball Monday night in a one-game showdown for the region title.

The Lady Wolves, behind a no-hitter from Logan Caymol, took an 8-0, 5-inning victory to clinch the top seed in next week's Region 8-AAAAA tournament.

It was the first career no-hitter for Caymol (7-2) who struck out 10 and walked just two. No Lady Falcons runners advanced past first base in the contest.

Leading 1-0, the Lady Wolves broke the game open with a 6-run outburst in the fourth inning, ignited by a solo home run from senior Hannah Jo Hyatt. Also in the fourth, Anabel Adams and Skylar Jenkins had RBI hits, Katie Perkins knocked in a run on a RBI groundout, and two more runs scored on a Flowery Branch error and a wild pitch.

The Lady Falcons finished second in the region standings and both teams will get automatic byes into the state tournament.

Buford (18-4, 5-0 Region 8-AAAAA) will host the Region Tournament beginning next Tuesday.

Buford's Logan Caymol tossed her first career no-hitter Monday to lead the Lady Wolves toan 8-0 win over Flowery Branch and clinch the top seed in the upcoming Region 8-AAAAA Tournament.
