COMMERCE — Commerce football rolled past Athens Christian for a 35-0 victory on Friday in Commerce.
DaJuan Wood scored one rushing touchdown and added a defensive score to help seal the win, as he returned an interception 48 yards for a touchdown and plunging into the end zone from 1 yard out on offense.
Kyre Ware also picked off an early pass -- the Tigers (4-0, 3-0 Region 8-A) snagged five picks on the night, and two more were negated by penalties -- to set up Nick Patrick's 5-yard run for a 7-0 lead. Woods scores made it 21-0 before Nate Ray and Caleb Mason hooked up for a 41-yard touchdown pass and a 28-0 halftime lead.
Tyelon Brock made it 35-0 on a 25-yard touchdown run.
Commerce plays host to Prince Avenue Christian next week.
