KANSAS CITY — The Piedmont College women's soccer team has made its second appearance in the United Soccer Coaches South Atlantic Regional Rankings this season. The Lady Lions moved to 8th in rankings after originally being ranked 9th last week by the USC.

The Untied Soccer Coaches was previously known as the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) but have rebranded in 2017.

Piedmont moved up one position after improving to 4-0-1 last week with a 3-0 win over Agnes Scott College. The Lady Lions are one of four teams in the top-10 to remain unbeaten and join Salem College (9th) to represent the USA South Athletic Conference in the rankings.

Timmy McCormack is in his first season as head coach for the Lady Lions but has been part of the program for the past seven seasons on the women's side at Piedmont. PC made its first ever appearance in the regional rankings in the fall of 2015.

For the season, Piedmont has recorded three shutouts and has allowed only three goals in five games. The Lady Lions battled to a 2-2 draw against Rhodes earlier in the season.

The Lady Lions travel to Berry College on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. matchup and will open conference play on Saturday against Covenant before taking on Centre College on Sunday. Both weekend games will be played at home at the Walker Athletic Complex.

The College of New Jersey is ranked first in the South Atlantic Region followed by Christopher Newport and Lynchburg College. Emory University in ranked fourth and Rowan University rounds out the top five.
