Two people are dead and a man is in critical condition following a wreck Monday afternoon in Forsyth County involving a dump truck and a garbage truck.
Forsyth County Sheriff's deputies were called to the scene on Atlanta Highway at Castleberry Road around 2 p.m. , where they found two victims —whose identities are being withheld until family members are notified — dead inside the garbage truck.
The injured man had to be extricated from the dump truck, which was loaded with asphalt, said Forsyth County Fire Department Division Chief Jason Shivers.
The man was taken to Grady Hospital in Atlanta.
Atlanta Highway remained closed as of 4:30 p.m. and was expected to remain closed throughout the rush hour period.
It is not immediately clear which driver was at fault, said Deputy Doug Rainwater, Forsyth County Sheriff's Office spokesman.
