Habersham County Schools operating on two-hour delay, with limited transportation

Posted 4:31AM on Monday 18th September 2017 ( 6 years ago )

CLARKESVILLE — Habersham County students will return to the classroom today, Sept. 18, but two hours later than normal.

As the hard-hit county continues to cope with cleanup of Tropical Storm Irma debris and downed wires, the school system’s transportation officials don’t want to operate buses before daylight to ensure the safest travel possible for students.

And not all buses will be running.

Initially, Habersham County Schools buses will not serve Barron Drive from Rocky Branch Road to Stewart Lane in Clarkesville, Chimney Rise Road, Dooley Road, Fairview School Road, Hancock Road, Harris Street, Harrison Trail, Holiday Road, Ivy Mountain Road, Kinney Mill Road, Lakeside Drive, Lon Lyons Road, Piedmont Mountain Road, Rock Road, Ga. 197 North (from Watts Mill Road to Ga. 255 at Batesville General Store), Wheeler Circle from Camille to Alto Street, Will Ayers Road and Ayers Road.
