CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — The No. 25-ranked Georgia men’s golf team stands ninth after one round of the Golfweek Collegiate Challenge.
On Sunday at Cedar Rapids Country Club, the Bulldogs fired a 4-over-par 292. North Carolina State grabbed the first-round lead at 14-under 274, followed by Iowa at 5-under 283 and UNC-Wilmington at 3-under 285.
Sophomore Spencer Ralston, a Gainesville High graduate, paced the Bulldogs on Sunday as he fired a 5-under 67. Ralston stands second individually, one shot shy of North Carolina State’s Stephen Franken (66).
Sophomore Trevor Phillips, a late addition to the Bulldogs’ lineup, signed for an even-par 72, while senior Zach Healy posted a 4-over 76 and junior Jack Larkin Jr. recorded a 5-over 77. Freshman John Hilliard Catanzaro had the Bulldogs’ non-counting score of 6-over 78.
The Golfweek Collegiate Challenge will continue on Monday and will conclude on Tuesday.
