The Southern Region of the U.S. Forest Service is waiving fees and making all campgrounds available for individuals displaced by Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma, including those in north Georgia's Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forests.
However, some campgrounds that were impacted by Harvey remain closed.
Forest Service officials urge evacuees to call ahead and check websites to determine what is open and what is not. Also, individuals requesting campsites still need to check in with campground hosts at each site.

South of Atlanta, Atlanta Motor Speedway, located near Hampton, announced earlier Thursday that it was making its camping facilities available to evacuees.
