MONROE -- Towns County was held to just 31 total yards by a stingy George Walton defense in a 17-7, Region 8-A loss Friday night on the road.

The Indians (1-1, 0-1 Region 8-A) trailed just 10-0 heading into the fourth quarter despite the tough offensive night as the defense, led by Hunter Fisk (12 tackles, 2 tackles-for-loss), had a bend-but-don’t-break approach.

But George Walton (2-0, 1-0) got a 2-yard touchdown run from  Keon McGhee with 6:20 left to put the game out of reach.

Towns County got its only points moments later when Cole Ledford took the ensuing kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown. But the Indians could get no closer.

The Indians have another tough road game next week traveling to Prince Avenue for another key region showdown.
