WINDER — Winder-Barrow is 3-0 to start a season for the first time since 2007 after throttling Northview 38-14 Friday night at W. Clair Harris Stadium.
The Bulldoggs used a huge first half explosion on offense, paced by Josh Sims and Jamar Mack, and Logan Cash, the Region 8-AAAAAA sack leader from 2016, recorded three sacks for the defense.
Sims got things rolling scooping up a Northview fumble on the Titans opening drive and racing 88-yards for a touchdown for a 7-0 lead as the Bulldoggs never trailed.
After a 34-yard Harlin Brown field goal, Northview pulled to within 10-7 late in the first quarter. It was all Winder-Barrow from there.
Sims added a 2-yard touchdown run and Mack scored on runs of 10 and 1 yard as the Bulldoggs pulled away for a 32-7 halftime lead.
Brock Landis added a 45-yard touchdown run in the third quarter and Northview scored late for the final tally.
Winder-Barrow coach Heath Webb said it has been the kind of start they were hoping for.
“This has been four years of hard work coming together,” Webb said. “They’re playing hard in all phases. We feel very good right now about where things are.”
The Bulldoggs are off next week before traveling to Loganville on Sept. 15.
