A Hall County man faces a single felony charge of theft by deception for allegedly arranging for a transfer of $10,000 into his personal bank account from the trust fund of a woman in a coma.
Edward Roger Allen, 34, of Gainesville is accused of having the money wired into the 40-year-old victim's account July 12, then having it transferred into his own account for personal use, said Lt. Scott Ware, Hall County Sheriff's Office spokesman.
The woman died the following day, and her parents later found the discrepancy and notified police.
Deputies obtained arrest warrants for Allen on Aug. 9 and arrested him Aug. 14, booking him into the Hall County Jail.
Ware said no additional arrests or charges are expected in the investigation.
