The Gainesville Fire Department is searching for the source of a gas leak off of Candler Highway, officials said.

"There have been several patients transported to the hospital with complaints of nausea and lightheadedness," said Keith Smith, Gainesville Fire division chief, in an email update issued shortly after noon Monday

All of the patients were from a single business in the area.

"The smell seems to be dissipating but we are continuing to check all areas that we have received calls on," said Smith.

Lyman Hall Elementary School was briefly evacuated, according to Hall County School System Spokesman Gordon Higgins.

Liberty Utilities is also on scene.
