CLEVELAND — A Lula woman is facing more than three dozen charges in connection with the exploitation of an elderly Cleveland woman.
Cleveland Police Investigator Lt. Donna Sims said they received a complaint that an elderly victim’s finances might have been exploited.
Cynthia Marie Forrester, 52, worked for a home health agency caring for the elderly woman who has dementia, Sims said.
Forrester, in violation of company policy, is accused of receiving gifts from the elderly woman, who according to Sims, could not recall giving her gifts.
Working with officials at United Community Bank, Sims said they discovered that Forrester had gone to the bank and obtained a credit card in the victim's name and was using it.
The incident is believed to have occurred between May and July of this year.
Forrester, who was arrested Aug. 1, is charged with 13 counts each of forgery of a financial transaction card, financial transaction card fraud, and identity theft (39 total counts), as well as two counts of exploitation of a disabled or elderly person.
Bond for the 41 counts has been set at $82,000.
