Reconstructed railroad crossing in Barrow County to open Thursday

Posted 3:09PM on Wednesday 9th August 2017 ( 6 years ago )
The newly reconstructed railroad crossing at Georgia 8/U.S. 29 at Ed Hogan Road near Winder is expected to open to traffic Thursday.

"The intersection was reconstructed, a traffic signal was added, along with warning devices for the railroad crossing," Georgia Department of Transportation District One Communications Officer Katie Strickland wrote in a media release.

The project was designed to ease traffic congestion on Georgia 8 by allowing connectivity between Ed Hogan Road and Georgia 211.

Work on the project, funded with Barrow County, began last September.  CMES, Inc. of Norcross was the contractor.
