For the second straight year, Brenau University’s Master of Business Administration was named the No. 1 program of its kind in the Atlanta-area in the “Atlanta Business Chronicle” list of top MBA programs by enrollment.

The publication ranked Brenau’s Master of Business Administration program ahead of Eugene W. Stetson School of Business and Economics of Mercer University; Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia; J. Mack Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University; and Emory University Goizueta Business School.

With 592 students enrolled in the program in 2016-17, Brenau held its No. 1 position on the July 28-published list, having earned the spot in 2015-16 as well. Brenau’s consistently high-ranking program placed second the year prior.

Suzanne Erickson, dean of the Brenau College of Business & Mass Communication, said the ranking is a credit to the strength of Brenau business programs.

“To be the largest MBA program the second year in a row is truly stunning when you compare the size of Brenau with the other institutions on the list,” she said. “It is a testament to the quality of our programs that students are choosing Brenau for their graduate needs.”

Erickson said the Brenau MBA program’s enrollment strength comes in part from its staggered enrollment, which enables students to commence classes at multiple times throughout the year rather than at traditional fixed times at the beginning of each semester or academic year. She also credited Brenau’s multiple formats and a wide range of concentrations like project management and health care administration.

The Brenau program, at $685 per credit hour, also was the second-most economical among the top five programs listed, which included Georgia State with a tuition of $483 per credit hour, Mercer ($727 per hour), Georgia ($13,404 per year) and Emory ($57,000 a year).

“All of our concentrations in the MBA are available 100 percent online,” Erickson said. “Today’s working adults are so time constrained with jobs, families, travel and other obligations that online is the only platform that fits into their lives. Among online programs Brenau is known for its rigorous, quality program, and I think that is the appeal.”
