Marel’s 5th Annual Charity Golf Tournament, Tour de Marel, brought in $12,500 for The Edmondson-Telford Center for Children in Gainesville.
The company presented a check on Tuesday, August 1 to Jane Carpenter, Program Director for Center.
"We are thrilled that our employees and suppliers exceeded our expectations in donations for this year’s charity," said Michael Otterbach, the VP of Manufacturing for Marel in a press statement.
Otterbach said the Tour de Marel Team had set a goal of $10,000 for this year's event.
Marel chooses a different charity to support each year and this year the charity Marel chose was The Edmondson Telford Center for Children (ETCC). The ETCC provides services to Hall and Dawson County children who are victims of sexual or severe physical abuse or neglect, as well as their non-offending family members. The Center provides a safe environment for crisis intervention and medical advocacy as the victim moves through the examination and investigation stages. The Center opened in 1997 and serves more than 300 children free-of-charge annually.
“The Edmondson Telford Center for Children is honored to have been chosen as the Tour de Marel charity for 2017," Carpenter said at the check presentation ceremony. "All the proceeds go directly to help children who are victims of abuse in our community."
