The Jackson County Inmate Fire Team has a "new" used vehicle to respond to fires in.

The county recently acquired the 1994 International walk-in rescue unit.  The 23-year-old vehicle has only 18,000 miles on it and will carry 9 inmate firefighters.

The team responds to every structural fire in the county to serve as manpower in support of firefighters on the scene.

The county currently has 8 certified firefighters.  Inmate firefighters count as members of the department which lowers the Insurance Service Office or ISO score, according to the county.
The 1994 International walk-in rescue unit recently acquired by Jackson County has only 18,000 miles.
