Habitat for Humanity of Hall County ReStore back in Murphy Blvd location

Posted 5:00PM on Friday 14th July 2017 ( 6 years ago )

Habitat for Humanity of Hall County re-dedicated their ReStore Friday morning with a ribbon cutting after a move to their former location on Murphy Boulevard.

Habitat for Humanity Executive Director Tim Williams said they ended up moving back to their former location from a location on Chestnut Street because of a business deal.

"The Chamber of Commerce with conjunction of the property owner of our other location had courted an out-of-country company to come to Gainesville and create some jobs," said Williams. "So we wanted to be a part of that, so we agreed to vacate the property and move back to this location."

The store is located on Murphy Boulevard, near Sisu and Kipper Tools.

"We own this building, so we're happy to come back and see what we can make over here and really have a success with the ReStore."

The ReStore is a thrift store that sells home items like furniture, light fixtures, doors and appliances. The items are donated and the money from ReStore purchases supports the mission for Habitat for Humanity of Hall County. "We're very aggressive at this location with our pricing to both help our customer base and move the donations," Williams said.

A grand opening celebration will continue Saturday, including a remote broadcast from WDUN at the store from 10 a.m. to noon.

The Re-Store isn't the only thing Habitat is working on. Williams said three new homes are being built in the Copper Glenn subdivision, joining the five homes that have already been built. And, they are already selling tickets for their 7th annual Night of Laughter on August 12.

The store has many types of furniture for sale. Upfront, couches, chairs and futons are on display.
Near the back of the store, doors, lighting fixtures and other necessities are on display.
