A Lakemont man who went missing July 11 was found deceased Tuesday afternoon.

Daniel Edgar Kennedy, 66, left his home Monday afternoon on an ATV and did not return home, according to a statement issued Wednesday by Rabun County Sheriff Chad Nichols.

Rabun County Emergency Management Agency was notified of the missing man shortly after 2 a.m. Tuesday, and located Kennedy’s ATV down an embankment on its side around 9 a.m.

Resources, including the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit, Georgia Department of Corrections K-9 Unit, and Georgia State Patrol Aviation, were called to assist in the search.

Kennedy was located deceased beneath a rock cliff just after 3 p.m. Tuesday.

The Rabun County Sheriff’s Office and Rabun County Coroner’s Office investigated.

Foul play is not suspect, according to Nichols.

“Rabun County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank Rabun County EMA, Rabun County Fire Service, Rabun County EMS, Georgia State Patrol Aviation, and the Georgia Department of Corrections K-9 Unit for their assistance,” Nichols’ statement reads.
