Sugar Hill City Council has made it 14 consecutive years without an increase in the millage rate, opting this year to keep it at 3.80 mills.
Council voted unanimously Monday evening to set the millage rate following a third and final public hearing, according to Paul Radford, city manager.
The city operates on "calendar" fiscal year, so council did not approve an operating budget; that will happen in January.
Council also approved a proposed housing development from Home South Communities along Buford Highway near White Oak Drive that it previously denied.
"(R)ezoning was approved with a number of variances and conditions that (were) acceptable to the council, developer and adjoining property owners. We think this development will be a good addition to that corridor," said Radford in an email to AccessWDUN.
The neighborhood will contain 81 townhomes on 11.13 acres, priced in the high 200's, according to city documents.
City council rejected the plan in 2016, but a recent study of the Buford Highway corridor indicated a rising demand for middle-income housing.
The approval comes with several conditions, including a mandatory homeowner's association, on-street parking restrictions and two car garages for each home, all of which will be at least 1,800 square-feet.
