BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Georgia track and field athlete Kendell Williams and Mississippi State baseball player Brent Rooker and are the Southeastern Conference's male and female athletes of the year.
The awards announced Thursday are named after former SEC Commissioner Roy Kramer. They're voted on by league athletic directors.
Williams won the Honda Award for track and field after winning her third NCAA heptathlon title in four years. She ended her college career with seven national championships.
Williams won the heptathlon at the USATF Outdoor Championships.
Rooker is the first SEC player to reach 20 home runs, 30 doubles and 75 RBIs in a season. The Minnesota Twins' first-round draft pick joins Rafael Palmeiro as the only players to win the SEC's triple crown, leading the league in batting average, home runs and RBIs.
