The Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholars for Division I, II & III were announced recently with a total of 952 women's collegiate golfers recognized with this prestigious honor. The University of North Georgia women's golf team's Taylor Allen and Shelby Hanna each capped the 2016-17 season by earning the All-American Scholar designation.

Earlier this year, both golfers earned Peach Belt Conference All-Academic distinction with Allen also collecting the league's Elite 15 Award. The duo is two of 14 PBC golfers to receive the accolade.

Allen graduated with a perfect 4.0 grade point average, as she collects her fourth consecutive WGCA All-American Scholar honor. She competed in 21 rounds with an 83.0 scoring average, with a season-low score of 74 in the opening round of the Armstrong Spring Invitational.

Hanna graduated with a 3.58 GPA, as the senior picked up her third WGCA All-American Scholar honor. She competed in 17 rounds with an 84.7 scoring average. She matched her season-low score of 78 twice in the Peach Belt Conference Championship.

The criteria for selection to the WGCA's All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50.
