A decorated Army veteran, Steve Kinard, is selected as the grand marshal for Braselton’s July 4th parade.

Kinard served in the 101st Airborne Division from Fort Campbell prior to being deployed to Iraq.  Upon arrival he was assigned to the 3rd Infantry as a platoon medic. He completed a second deployment to Iraq in 2005.  Kinard earned an array of honors including the Combat Medical Badge, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terror Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Professional Development Ribbon, two overseas Service Ribbons and Air Assault badge.

Now an officer with the Braselton Police Department, he was recently honored for heroic action saving the life of a young resident who had a severe asthma attack.  The award cites “lifesaving actions, exemplifying the highest standards of the Braselton Police Department.”

The Braselton parade on July 4 begins at 6:00 at the Braselton Tech Center on Georgia 53 and winds through its historic downtown.
