Clarkesville police seek help locating man who allegedly damaged equipment Saturday

CLARKESVILLE — Clarkesville police hope the public can help them identify and locate a man who allegedly damaged construction equipment on the west side of the Clarkesville Square Saturday afternoon.

Clarkesville officers responded about noon Saturday to a dispute where a construction crew was performing renovations to the sidewalk in front of several businesses.

Officers were told that a heavyset white male with short hair and wearing a blue shirt engaged in a verbal dispute with the crew.

“Witnesses stated that a short while later, the unidentified man returned and intentionally caused damage to the unoccupied construction equipment,” a social media post from Clarkesville Police Department states.

Anyone with information about the man or his location is asked to contact Clarkesville Police Department through its Facebook page or by calling Habersham County Dispatch Center at (706) 778-3911.

Businesses on the west side of the Clarkesville Square remain open while construction crews replace the sidewalks out front.
