A suspect in a Gainesville murder is now behind bars, almost three years after the crime.

Gainesville Police Department Cpl. Jessica Van said Hector Bautista, who was 18 at the time of the crime, was found in Mexico and returned to Hall County to face charges in the murder of Daniel Cornejo, 21. Cornejo died after he was shot on November 19, 2014 at a location on West Avenue.

Van said investigators are still looking for a second suspect in the case.

"That warrant for David Olivas is still active, and if anyone has information that would be great to locate him, as well," said Van.

Van did not know a specific date or location in Mexico where Bautista was discovered.

At this point, the only charge levied against Bautista is felony murder.

Van said the investigation is still active, and investigators have not released a motive in the case.
Hector Bautista, shown here in a mug shot from 2014, was arrested in Mexico and returned to Hall County to face murder charges.
