CLARKESVILLE -- Just more than two months after a clerk at the Habersham County Landfill was held at gunpoint during an armed robbery, investigators have made an arrest in the case.
On Monday, investigators from the Habersham County Sheriff's Office obtained arrest warrants for Billy Michael Reese, 46, of Mt. Airy.
Reese is charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault, kidnapping, pointing a gun at another, and theft by taking for the April 20 robbery at the landfill, located at 4900 Dicks Hill Parkway near Mt. Airy, said Sheriff's Lt. Matt Wurtz.
Video evidence and other items linking the suspect to the crime led to the arrest, Wurtz said.
Wurtz said Reese was arrested without incident at his home Monday, and he was transported to the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center.
Reece will receive a first appearance hearing for the charges on June 28, Wurtz said.
