New trails coming to Tribble Mill Park in Lawrenceville

A pair of new paved trails are coming to Tribble Mill Park in Lawrenceville, with Gwinnett commissioners giving the move a final vote of approval this week.

A 10-foot wide trail (see photo) will connect the Festival Field parking lot to the granite shoals on the east side of park, according to a county press statement.

A second, 12-foot wide, trail will connect the existing multi-use trail to the corner of Callie Still Road and New Hope Road, where it will connect to a new trail being built by the Gwinnett Department of Transportation along New Hope Road.

The $539,551 contract was awarded to the low bidder, Vertical Earth. 81.5-percent of the funding will come from the county's 2014 SPLOST program, while the remaining 18.5-percent will come from a grant from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.

The current un-paved trail to the granite shoals will be closed for remediation as crews construct the new trail, officials said.

Tribble Mill park is a 718-acre park located on Tribble Mill Parkway.

County commissioners approved the motion unanimously on Thursday.
