ATHENS — With baseball the only sport remaining, the University of Georgia currently stands 13th in the annual Learfield Directors’ Cup standings released Wednesday.
Assured of a top 20 ranking when the final standings are announced later in the month, it will make Georgia one of only six teams in the country to finish in the top 20 every year since 1997-98 (Georgia, Florida, Stanford, North Carolina, UCLA, and Texas).
Originated in 1994, the annual competition measures the success of overall athletic programs based on national finishes in each varsity sport.
